Any word on any instabilities in the Arena League this off season?

Seems like it has been awhile since a team was in turmoil (sans the Voodoo) or a lack of fan interest was a factor in folding or relocating. Didn't NBC drop the league from it's Sunday broadcasts?

Also, any word on expansion ?

Also, does anyone have any info on two past arena franchises that never got off of the ground? Miami Toros and the LA Wings ?

The ever reliable John Meyer has provided me with logos and I want to add them eventually but was wondering if anyone has any tidbits on these obscurities.

This probably should have been two separate topics!

Thanks!

As for AFL 2007, there isn't any word on expansion. NBC did drop them but they still have a deal with Versus for this season. The Voodoo will be back, they held a joint tryout with the Desperados.

You've got obscure Arena logos and you haven't shared them with me?

Will send

The Miami Toros AND the Miami Bulls (probably the same team) can be found at logo server: (colors remind me of the Charlotte Rage. I wonder if their is a corelation?)

The LA Wings logo definitely needs to be cleaned up!

Thanks for the kind words, Klaus. The LA Wings logo came from a friend who sent me a portion of a letterhead envelope, which explains the condition of the logo. He insisted that it was the logo for the Wings, who existed for an amazingly short time before moving to Sacramento as the Attack. However, there is some question about the logo, I've been told there was a different logo included in one or more newspaper articles at the time. Who knows?

Had the same thing happen a few years ago with a fellow collector in Canada who sent me that color logo for the Toronto Northmen of the WFL. Everybody seems to agree the logo is correct, but he was the only person I ever contacted who offered colors.

Which leads me to the following. I've been doing some CFL research again, the boat logo for the Argos helmet I sent you some time ago (a scan of the actual helmet decal, can't get any more accurate than that!) was unquestionably used in 1965, I have game action photos, but if it was for the complete season is open to question. I'm begining to think the two early boat logos were both used in 1965.

Shouldda moved over to the CFL section for that bit of info, and for the next as well.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers did indeed use the lightning bolt logo for the entire season, I now have game action photos as evidence. Oddly though, one of them does not have the players number under the lightning bolt.

Thanks to Mr Habs for fixing my password so I can post on this board again. I appreciate it. john meyer

Arena Football has recently reached an agreement with ESPN to begin broadcasting games this season. I don't have all the details, but they plan to feature some weekend games and a Monday Night match-up every week of the season.

I'm sure they'll do a better job than NBC did. NBC did a decent job the first year, but when they started focusing on the Olympics, it was all downhill.

I have the Toros/Bulls logo, but I've never seen anything resembling a helmet.

The Toros and Bulls were the same team, here's an interesting bit of info that confirms it. You gotta read the very last paragraph!
